I have to say I love this day. I was born on a Friday the 13th, so to Me, this is good luck, especially for my Parents! OK, maybe not so great for my poor Mother who had to have an emergency C-section in a third world country in 1970!
I assume, most people don’t know what day of the week they were born, or care for that matter, but I do.
Other than loving that I am born under the sun sign of Pisces, is that I was born on this special day, Friday the 13th is supposedly one of the unluckiest days of the year. There are two Friday the 13ths this year – today and Oct. 13.
There are lots of theories why Friday the 13th is considered unlucky, many of which have Biblical origins. Some say Eve bit the apple from the Tree of Knowledge on a Friday the 13th, resulting in she and Adam getting booted out of the Garden of Eden. Others say the Great Flood of Noah’s time began on a Friday the 13th. There is also the fact that there were 13 people present at the Last Supper the day before Christ’s crucifixion.
One of the most popular – albeit likely false – theories has to do with the medieval society the Knights Templar, for those of Us who read or saw the movie “Da Vinci Code” we know the story.
The concern is so great that there’s even a name for those who fear the day – Friggatriskaidekaphobia. Wishing you all a Happy Friday the 13th!
