The Most And Least Common Zodiac Signs In America By Alyssa Harrington

America's astrological population is diverse, but there's one group that really dominates!

Your zodiac sign says a lot about you. Several parts of your personality and identity can be explained by the astrological sign you were born into. You probably know a little bit about your sign and what it means – but how much do you know about the American population’s astrological composition?

Looking at the most popular zodiac sign in each state, Cancers are by far the most prevalent coming in as most common in half of the US states. Babies born between June 21st and July 22nd are a part of this widespread water sign. Other common signs are Virgos, Aries, and Libras.

All about the most popular sign

Cancer season is described as one of the most emotional times of the year. While it coincides with the carefree vibes that accompany the Summer Solstice, this season is heavily packed with dramatic mood swings. Even if you’re not apart of the large proportion of Americans who identify as Cancer, this season is enough to encourage everyone to get in their feelings and cry it out.

Cancers are embodied by the crab, meaning they bring together a hard exterior and a soft, nurturing personality deep down. You never know what you’ll get with this dual personality. Their identity runs on a spectrum from warm and affectionate to hard-edged and confrontational. Cancers vary from day to day depending on their mood.

Being the most popular sign in the US, Cancers are among good company. Pop music sensations Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, and Alessia Cara all share this water sign. Other celebrities that share this identity include Khloe Kardashian, Post Malone, Kevin Hart, and Tom Cruise to name a few. Cancers are most likely to get along with Pisces and Scorpios. These two signs are as whimsical and romantic as the summer solstice babies, making these signs a match for friendships and relationships alike.

Behind the least common zodiac sign

The rarest sign in 39 of the 50 states is the Capricorns. Christmas babies, born between December 22nd and January 20th are the least likely to find someone born within their astrological season.

From the time of year they were born into to how they feel and behave, Capricorns could not be more different than the most common Cancers. Capricorns are generally characterized as ambitious, persistent, and realistic. Unlike the daydreaming Cancers, Capricorns have their eyes on the endgame and let nothing get in their way.

They may be described as sensitive, but they will stop at nothing until they achieve their goals. They are the first to admit that they love being able to measure their success. Money and instant gratification are the ways to a Cap’s heart. These are tangible ways to reward their hard work and dedication. Capricorns are a part of the Earth sign group, and get along best with others in this same classification – that’s Tauruses and Virgos. These Earth signs are all level headed and don’t waste time in their emotions.

Capricorns may be rare, but they are far from the worst sign. Strong female leaders like Kate Middleton and Michelle Obama share this identity, making it arguably one of the strongest zodiac signs. Whether you’re skeptical about the truth of horoscopes or read them religiously before you get out of bed, the facts are that not all zodiac signs are the same. No matter how much you believe they line up with your personality, some signs are simply more common than others. If you think America has become overly loving and moody recently, blame it on the stars
